Playboy Club returning to London
The man behind the Playboy empire, Hugh Hefner has announced that next year he will reopen the Playboy Club in London as part of the innovations within Playboy.
The Playboy Club was in the a popular bar and casino gambling club in the sixties that attracted big stars like George Best and Jack Nickolson. Now 30 years after closing the doors of the club, there is a comeback on the agenda with a new venue in Mayfair in London. The new club will include a restaurant, a cocktail bar and a casino over two floors. The return to London was already coming the last 10 years. Playboy and her partner London Clubs International, part of Harrah’s casino gambling group from the U.S., say that they will open the new gambling club in the first half of next year.
Hugh Hefner said: “When we first opened the Playboy Club in London it was one of my favorite times for the brand. With Playboy now more popular than ever, I look forward to our return to London and again sharing the notions that are celebrated in the magazine, the concept of good food and drink, pretty girls, and exciting entertainment.”
The original Playboy Club in London opened in 1966 on Park Lane and soon became a place to hangout for the rich and famous. The team behind the new club says that the famous Playboy Bunny hostesses, croupiers for the gambling tables and cocktail waitresses will be part of the new club, and they hope it will once more attract a starry clientele. Scott Flanders, CEO of Playboy Enterprises said: “When Hugh Hefner opened the original London Playboy Club it redefined class and luxury, setting a new nightlife standard around the world.”
